Here at It’s A Dog’s Life, it feels more like a home than a stressful kennel. Dogs are free to run and play all day long in a supervised, safe environment in our boarding kennel. We provide an environment to nurture your dog's mentality. The dogs are grouped together according to size and play styles. We work on basic manners each and every day, i.e., waiting at gates, no jumping up, and other appropriate behaviors.
We monitor the interaction of the dogs very closely and make sure that all guests are playing nicely and having a great time. We specialize in helping shy dogs gain confidence and we also have a separate area for the dogs that have a more aggressive play style. Our dog boarding is located in Petaluma and we proudly serve clients in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Novato, Marin, and throughout Sonoma County and the North Bay.

A UNIQUE RANCH SETTING - THE KENNELS
It’s A Dog’s Life is situated on three country acres in West Petaluma. We have several different buildings in which the kennels are located.
The Cottage, part of the main house, has a cozy indoor doggie playroom with a sofa and lots of fun toys. It's perfect for pampering our little guys or housing our geriatric guests.

The Depot and The Lodge provide very large indoor and outdoor runs along with some crates. The runs are roomy enough that two or three large dogs from the same family can stay together.

The Bed and Breakfast is comfortable and cozy and features extra large crates. Your dog will enjoy snoozing and then going outside to romp and play in the spacious, grassy yard.

MEALS
All meals include daily fresh-cooked chicken unless otherwise specified. Our house food is Diamond Lamb and Rice. If your pet is used to eating a different blend, we recommend bringing your own dog's kibble. We accommodate dietary restrictions.

 You are welcome to bring your pet's own bed or crate if you prefer.
MANNERS AND SOCIALIZATION
It is a fact that the more interaction and activity pets receive, the healthier and happier they are. At It's A Dog's Life, we have calm, balanced ambassador dogs to greet our new guests. Socializing reinforces good behavior. If your dog is unsure in social situations, he or she can slowly gain confidence in our structured and chaperoned daycare program.

Baths include a brush-out, ear cleaning and nail trimming.
Private Ball Throw
While all the other dogs are napping and our yards are empty, treat your best friend to his or her favorite activity - a 20-minute, one-on-one game of fetch!
Nature Walks Our walking program is available to both our boarding and daycare guests. Walks are off grounds and include some training such as sitting when stopping, no pulling on leash and treated recalls.
Ice Cream Parlor
Treat your dog to delicious, organic doggie frozen yogurt.
